Uncomfortable Facts

  • Every two and a half minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.  One in six American women are victims of sexual assault, and one in 33 men.  (www.rainn.org)

  • About 44% of rape victims are under age 18, and 80% are under age 30. (www.rainn.org)
  • 25.5% of women are victimized over the course of their lifetime.  (National Violence Against Women Survey, 2000)

  • 12-34 are the highest risk years. Risk peaks in the late teens: girls 16 to 19 are four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. (2000 National Crime Victimization Study)

  • One study shows that among college students, 73% of the assailants and 55% of the victims had used drugs, alcohol, or both immediately before the assault.  (American Medical Assoc.)

Safe And Secure Women’s Self Defense

Our goal through “Safe And Secure” is to provide training in the emotional, mental and

                           physical aspects of self-defense.

This includes... S: seeing what’s going on around you

                                                      A: avoiding conflict when possible

F: fighting to protect yourself and others

E: escaping to safety and reporting to authorities

This  two and a half hour seminar concentrates on both abuse prevention and practical self-defense.  The physical techniques are easy (even fun) to learn and are appropriate for all ages and  physical conditioning.  Safe and Secure can also be tailored for young women (ages 13-19).  Special emphasis is placed on setting boundaries and how young women can more safely navigate an adult world.
